Frank's International 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off
New Location for 2014: Cajun Field
On Friday, Nov. 7, Frank’s International will host its third-annual Chili Cook-Off to benefit United Way of Acadiana. This year’s Cook-Off will be held at Cajun Field to accommodate the larger crowds the event has drawn in recent years. Approximately 85 teams will be producing unique chili dishes from ingredients both traditional and exotic. Prizes will be awarded for best chili in each category as well as for spirit and costumes. Last year the event raised more than $43,000 to create lasting, positive change through United Way of Acadiana. For the first time, Frank’s will also be raffling off great prizes including an outfitted kayak from Pack & Paddle (donated by Gamma Construction) and a weekend stay in New Orleans with two tickets for the Saints vs. Falcons game on Dec. 21. All money raised will go to support United Way of Acadiana’s efforts to help create an educated, prosperous and safe community where all individuals and families achieve their potential. This year’s event will celebrate the University and all things Ragin’ Cajun — attendees are encouraged to “Wear Red” to show their support. The Cook-Off will run from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The $5 entry fee allows each attendee to sample more than 85 different chilies created by the teams. Raffle tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance at Pack & Paddle and United Way of Acadiana’s office, as well as at the Chili Cook-Off. Winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m. during the cook-off and need not be present to win.
