WHO: Cajuns for Bayou Teche WHAT: Bayou Teche Clean Up WHEN: 9:00 AM to 1 PM, Saturday August 18, 2012 WHERE: Meet at Arnaudville, LA boat launch Contact: Blake Couvillion Phone/email: 337-230-8596 or blake_couvillion@yahoo.com Mr. Couvillion is asking for volunteers, friends, and families to bring their motor boats to help pull items from Bayou Teche. Efforts to remove debris include everything from domestic trash to washing machines and discarded water heaters. Close to 50 tons of trash and debris have been pulled out of Bayou Teche in the 4 years the organization has been volunteering their time on the Bayou. “Cajuns for Bayou Teche and it’s volunteers has been able to significantly clean the banks of Bayou Teche over the past several years. It is very important that we keep the banks in good order”, says Couvillion. “The area has been enjoying more recreational activity, and our volunteers are the reason for our current success. Please help us to conserve this historic bayou in Cajun Country.” Volunteers with motor boats are needed to make this effort possible. Kayaks and canoes are also encouraged. Drinks and garbage bags will be provided. Volunteers should bring gloves. All volunteers will receive a 2012 Tour du Teche Race Poster. With the 3rd Annual Tour du Teche around the corner, Cajuns for Bayou Teche wants to ensure that the waterway is fit for residents and guests to have an enjoyable canoe and kayak race. Cajuns for Bayou Teche is a program of the TECHE Project, a non-profit organization supporting programs about Bayou Teche.
