In addition to her various other contributions to the community, Acadiana LifeStyle is fortunate to count Cathy Indest as a member of our Editorial Board. Here are a few things you might not know about her!
Family: I am married to my husband of 44 years, Johnny Indest. We have three children, Christine Indest McCroy married to David McCrory, Jenny Indest Minvielle married to Provost Minvielle and Zachary Indest married to Ann-Carol Trappey Indest. We have nine grandchildren: Will, Jacob, Jack, Bennett, John, Mary Margaret, Coerte and Ben.
Hidden Talents: I speak fluent French.
Who is your biggest inspiration? My mother, Jackie Voorhies, and my mother-in-law, Joyce Indest, two of the strongest women I have known. These two individuals taught me so much about life, leadership, culture and being a good mother and grandmother.
Biggest wish for the future of your community: My biggest wish for the future of my community is that its reputation becomes so stellar that everyone wants to live in such a thriving community.
Three words your friends would use to describe you: Determined, Persevering, Caretaker
First Celebrity Crush: The Beatles!
Words You Live By: God first, family second, community third.
Favorite Book: My favorite books are contained in the Midford Series by Jan Karon.
If someone had only one day to spend in Acadiana….what would you tell them to do/see? I would tell them to come and visit Iberia Parish, including the Shadows on the Teche, the Bayou Teche Museum, Conrad Rice Mill and Konriko Store, Church Alley, George Rodrigue Park, Jefferson Island, Avery Island and Tabasco. I would also tell visitors not to miss seeing and enjoying the Trilingual Historical Markers, New Iberia Beneath The Balconies, Books Along The Teche Literary Festival, A Night At The Museum, Sounds Of The Seasons, A Prelude To Spring, Symphony Sunday In The Park and Stars and Stripes: A Musical Celebration.
