Downtown Alive! (DTA!) welcomes Pine Leaf Boys for its annual tree lighting ceremony. It wouldn’t be proper Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Lafayette without the four-time Grammy-Nominated Pine Leaf Boys lighting up the stage in Parc Sans Souci. The Pine Leaf Boys have breathed new life into Cajun music, reviving ancient songs and bringing them to the bandstand.

Santa will be present to help start the holiday season by officially lighting the Christmas Tree on top of the Bank in downtown Breaux Bridge. Braz Huval Children Band as well as Yvette Landry and Richard Comeaux Cajun Band will perform. They will have the Santa Coca-Cola Truck as well. Join them as we celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

December 7 marks the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and in recognition of this historic event, First Baptist Lafayette will present five performances of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” This presentation is free and will feature traditional Christmas and World War II era music in an exciting stage production. It is centered on the true meaning of Christmas as experienced by families in December 1941. In addition to the dramatic cast, the church choir, soloists and orchestra will be a part of the program. 

Opelousas Children’s Christmas Parade

The annual holiday event features colorfully lit Christmas themed floats, marching bands, costumed characters and everyone’s favorite, Santa Claus. The parade begins at St. Landry Catholic Church on Union & Main Street, rolls through downtown Opelousas and ends on Creswell Lane.
