Every other year, thousands of oil and gas experts descend on Lafayette during LAGCOE. The city that is home to more than 1,300 oil and gas companies is host for the world’s mammoth biannual expo in late October — Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition.
“We are one of the world’s pioneer oil and gas expositions and have been fueling global energy solutions for 60 years,” according to LAGCOE organizers.
Where It All Began
Since 1955, LAGCOE has been a beacon for the industry serving as one of the largest in the country and offering opportunities for those at every juncture of the industry. The “innovative engineering and entrepreneurial spirit” that drives LAGCOE means greater results for professionals in the industry and greater productivity overall.
The event, which is slated for Oct. 27 – 29 at the Cajundome is a one-stop access point for “state-of-the-art equipment, service, and technologies as well as technical presentations from worldwide leaders in the onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration and production industry.”
The Last Time
The last LAGCOE, in 2013, garnered 416 exhibitors and more than 17,000 attendees from 43 countries. With a wait list for exhibitors, the 2015 event promises to be bigger and better than ever. In addition to the traditional expo, this will be a truly unique opportunity for people to get back to work or explore options in the oil and gas industry during the LAGCOE Career Fair.
“LAGCOE is proud to offer this exciting networking and career development event in response to the oil and gas industry’s continual need for qualified workforce,” says LAGCOE executive director Angela Cring. “Our goal is to provide the industry with an outlet that facilitates networking between existing and future professionals.”
LAGCOE Career Fair
This year’s career fair will take place on Oct. 29 at the Cajundome and Convention Center. The Career Fair was held in conjunction with LAGCOE for the first time in 2013. The event was so successful that in 2014 they hosted a free standing Career Fair. An expert team of community and industry leaders organizes the event. It creates an atmosphere in which potential employees and energy companies have the opportunity to meet new industry professionals.
As if all of the industry opportunities weren’t enough incentives to participate, attendees can enter to win a free Cadillac by visiting six sponsoring exhibitors: Grainger, Old Dominion Freight Line, Reagan Power & Compression, Robin Instruments & Specialty, LLC, Sparkhound and Sullivan Palatek Air Compressors. Guests simply present their badges to each of the participating exhibitors to be scanned. The winner will be announced on Thursday, Oct. 29. This drawing is possible thanks to Service Chevrolet Cadillac.
In partnership with the LAGCOE Career Fair, Acadiana Society for Human Resources Management will host a speaker at LITE on Oct. 27. James T. Stodd, MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Principal, JT Stodd & Associates will present, “The Basics of Salary Structure Design and Administration.”
Energy Innovators Pitch Challenge
The 2015 Energy Innovators Pitch Challenge is also gaining momentum. It’s presented by LAGCOE, INNOV8 Acadiana, LLC and LEDA’s Opportunity Machine to create partnerships between emerging energy innovators and investors who are willing to further their ideas. Winners will be showcased during LAGCOE. On Oct. 29, following a 3-minute live audience Q&A, each innovator will be allowed a 3-minute timespan to pitch their ideas to a panel of investors. The winner will receive the INNOV8Award and potential funding for their invention.
