O’Reilly continues his “Killing” series with this fascinating account of Patton’s life and his “strange” death. The facts are that his car was hit head on by an American truck that sent him to a hospital where he died a few days later. O’Reilly suggests a more nefarious scenario in which the audacious general was murdered. Any evidence of that is not to be found and it’s left to readers to decide for themselves. The most intriguing and horrifying scenes, incredibly researched, puts readers right in the foxholes with our soldiers who suffered horrifically but bravely.
REVIVAL By Stephen King, Scribner, $30.00
Everyone in rural Harlow, Maine is taken with their new minister, his beautiful wife and small son, and soon the church pews fill. In particular, 6-year-old Jamie Morton idolizes the young preacher after he mystically restores his older brother’s ability to speak and they become especially close. After a tragic accident, the minister changes and makes what the congregation remembers as the “terrible sermon” and send him away. But over the years, as Jamie grows into manhood, he somehow keeps meeting his former pastor who saves him time after time until their final meeting, which readers will anticipate with dread.
