Hands-down, we are blessed here in Southwest Louisiana. Indeed, you would be hard pressed to find another state in the Union representing the complete package: Food, culture, history, the arts, music, down home friendliness and a joie de vivre that is second to none. As if that wasn’t enough, Louisiana – appropriately nicknamed the “Sportsman’s Paradise” – offers the very best nature has to offer. Abounding in lakes, rivers, bayous, parks and natural habitats, Louisianians are often a mere stone’s throw away from fresh and salt water fishing, and exciting hunting.

If you feel the call of the wild, the desire to get in touch with nature can be easily fulfilled by visiting one of Louisiana’s 22 State Parks, 17 Historic Sites and one Perseveration Area. Maybe you simply want to pack up the kids and take a day trip, or get away for a quiet weekend respite and do little else than relax by the pool. Or, perhaps you’d like to plan a trip with the guys and hunker down to engage in a week of serious hunting and fishing. The beauty is that whatever you desire, the “State Of Camping” offers exactly what you need.

We visited the Louisiana State Parks website to glean some information and gain a birds eye view of campsites in our area. Consider these popular destinations located right here in Acadiana, and then head over to and click on “Camping and Lodging” to book your reservation!
