LSU / KENT ST PREVIEW

The LSU fighting tigers will take on the Kent State Golden Flashes Saturday night at 6:00 PM. The tigers are a huge favorite to win, but don't be surprised if Kent St. hangs around a while in this one. The Golden Flashes actually lost a chance to play in the Orange Bowl when they dropped a 44-37 double-overtime game to Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. Instead of the BCS bowl game they made the trip to the GoDaddy.com Bowl and lost to Arkansas State 17-13. Either way, they have a decent chance to make this game a little more interesting than most are thinking.
On the flip side, LSU is coming off what was their most impressive offensive showing in recent memory. I expect another stellar performance from quarterback Zach Mettenberger. He is looking more and more like the big time prospect LSU thought they had when he signed with the tigers. The area that deserves the most attention is the LSU running game. Look for Jeremy Hill to get more carries this week in order to build up his stamina heading into next week’s SEC opener with Auburn. He is the most important back to LSU'S offense, as Alfred Blue just doesn't look like the same player since injuring his knee last season.
This should be an easy victory for LSU, but keep an eye on the flashes. Well, that might be a bad analogy.
