With thousands of apps out there for your smartphone or tablet, it can be hard to make a choice without cluttering up your phone or cutting into your wallet with apps you’ll never use. Research has shown that people who keep accurate track of their food intake do a better job of controlling their weight. With this handy app, users can log food and exercise, set weight loss or maintenance goals, and monitor calories, fat, sugars, etc. One of the best features of this app is a bar code scanner to scan grocery items, and users also can look up common/popular grocery store and restaurant foods. Let’s face it; we could all use a little help reminding us to do our household chores. The Home Routines® app allows users to create checklists of chores, then set reminders for particular days and times (need to remember to do the ironing on Saturdays, or always forgetting to feed the cat?) Users can select from seven “focus zones,” like bathroom/laundry or entryway/stairs and add the rooms and tasks best suited to their unique household needs, along with weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reminders. You can even set the built-in timer if you’re on a tight schedule – a lot can be accomplished in 10 minutes! Cost: $4.99
