KISSED BY AN ANGEL

Poetry & Photography by Mickey Delcambre

Daylight crept into my room
I held my pillow oh so tight
My head was full of night time dreams
Darkness lost to morning light

I closed my eyes to feel the dreams
They were so real and filled with love
But morning prayers came first each day
I thanked my God from up above

Please bless my mother and my dad
Keep me safe from evil’s way
Bless all the teachers I have known
And help the children through the day

Now back to dreams that thrilled me so
There was a prince that loved me
He built a house for us to share
On a hill above the sea

A picket fence surrounded it
Was painted silver and gold
The yard was planted with big strong trees
To protect against the cold

The sky was blue with fluffy white clouds
The sea was a bright green
The birds had feathers of different hue
The prettiest I’ve ever seen

I loved my home upon the hill
My prince had built for me
My friends were in and out each day
Was happy as could be

I opened my eyes and knew it was time
To greet another day
My dreams would live within my mind
My prince would find the way

When I told my Mom about my dream
She looked at me and said
An Angel gave that dream to you
With a kiss as you lay in your bed
